Join Our Team

Volunteering at FoLAS is not a casual activity—it’s a meaningful commitment. Our animals depend on routine, reliability, and consistent care. That’s why we ask for a minimum commitment of one weekly shift (approximately 3 hours) for at least three months.

Our work is hands-on and physically demanding. Volunteers must be able to:

  • Work outdoors year-round in all kinds of weather

  • Tolerate exposure to hay, dust, and manure

  • Walk several miles during a shift

  • Lift, bend, carry, and be on their feet for extended periods

If you’re someone who finds fulfillment in hard work and purpose-driven service, you’ll find this experience deeply rewarding.

Please apply only if you can meet these minimum requirements. Our commitment to the animals means we cannot offer exceptions.

Lives

What You’ll Gain

At FoLAS, we provide love, safety, and second chances to horses, donkeys, and mules who have known hardship. Every day, our rescued equines rely on the compassion and care of humans who are willing to show up, work hard, and love deeply.

We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers who can commit their time, energy, and hearts to helping these incredible animals heal and thrive.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Daily Chores – Mucking stalls, cleaning water troughs, and sweeping barns

  • Feeding & Watering – Helping with scheduled feedings and ensuring fresh water is always available

  • Grooming & Care – Brushing, washing, and bonding with our horses

  • Maintenance & Repairs – Fixing fences, cleaning tack, and keeping the sanctuary safe and tidy

  • Pasture Management – Helping with weed control, manure spreading, and land care

  • Companionship & Socializing – Spending time with shy or traumatized horses to build trust

  • Events & Outreach – Assisting with fundraisers, tours, or educational programs

What We're Looking For

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of FoLAS. Whether you're scooping, sweeping, feeding, or quietly sitting with a shy donkey, your presence makes a difference. Every minute you spend here brings comfort and care to an animal who once had none.

You don’t need prior equine experience—just a willingness to learn and a heart for animals. We’ll teach you the rest.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you're ready to give your time, your strength, and your heart, we invite you to fill out the Volunteer Application Form here.

We’re so grateful for people like you—people who see the value in every life and are willing to work hard to protect it. Together, we can create a world where horses, donkeys, and mules are respected, cared for, and loved.

Thank you for considering a volunteer role at FoLAS. We can’t wait to meet you.
