From Auction to Sanctuary - The Journey of a Rescue Horse

Every horse has a story, and for many, that story nearly ends at the auction house. At Friends of Lackota Animal Sanctuary (FoLAS), we work to rewrite those stories and give them a second chance at life.

Recently we rescued Nora's Girl, a 13 year old Standardbred mare who had been run through a livestock auction, destined for an uncertain and heartbreaking fate. Thin, withdrawn, and clearly neglected, Nora's Girl had almost given up--but we hadn't.

Our team quickly stepped in to secure her safety. From there, her journey truly began. After a safe transport to the sanctuary, Nora's Girl was welcomed with fresh hay, cool water, and soft voices letting her know she was safe. She is a calm and sweet horse with kind eyes.
This horse is being trained in a partnership with Friends of Lackota Animal Sanctuary and Hee-Haw Halfway House Donkey Rescue and Education . If you or somebody else you know might be interested in taking on a horse from this Sanctuary as a trainer incentive, and
helping a horse while earning money for training, let us know! Know! We are looking for more trainers to help place horses by giving them the skills that they need to find good homes!
Her story is just one example of the lives your support helps us save. Behind every rescue is a donor, a volunteer, and a community that believes every animal deserves dignity. She is coming to Hee-Haw Halfway House Donkey Rescue and Education Nonprofit for saddle training.
You made this possible. Thank you!
