Wynonna (pictured here) and Rainbow Dash (next page) have been a team since the beginning—mother and daughter, survivors of the slaughter pipeline. Wynonna, a former bucking horse, arrived unhandled and extremely sick, battling Strangles, pneumonia, and severe eye problems. Wynonna was very much touch and go when she arrived and we were not sure she would survive. made it clear she has opinions of her own. While she may not seek out human affection, she’ll gladly accept treats and has a deep bond with another donkey at the rescue. Now a permanent resident, she finally has the security she was once denied. Some rescues need time, some need space, and Blanche has found a place where she can have both. Blanche is a prime example and reminder that every animal is different, they all react different to the trauma they endured in their past.
